Here are two old drawings that I added color to and submitted for this week's Blown Covers theme, FOOD. It was fun to alter them and with color. I like the bottom image of Manhattan as a popsicle and almost did it in orange, but thought green was better for the iconic Central Park rectangle in the center of Manhattan. It's going to be 95 degrees today, so I have popsicles on the brain.

I should have finished these a long time ago, but better late than never. I dunno which one I like better, or if either one really puts across the idea of what I had in mind when I began. The top was simply MCA on his beatbox machine, sliding around town on a skateboard as an enlightened one in NYC. The bottom was an idea of all the MCA reincarnations from his movie label to his Beastie Boys video personas. The color is overboard, but I was trying to capture the Tibetan thangka look. ANYHOW, for good or for ill, here is my dedication to MCA.

This week's theme to Blown Covers was FASHION. I submitted some old drawings for it. When I drew these, it was a combo of the Marc Jacobs fall line at Fashion Week and the winner of the Westminster Dog Show. Nice that I could use these again for something.
